  • Making dangerous oversights. You might forget to unplug the iron after pressing a shirt, or forget that you put something on the stove to cook. While this is easy to do, it can put you at very serious risk. If this has become a frequent issue, try implementing a reminder system that will keep you focused, such as always bringing the iron up to the front door with you before you leave or bringing your keys into the kitchen with you when you cook.
  • Driving mistakes. Many adults have been driving for decades, which means that the process of driving becomes second nature. While this makes people feel more comfortable behind the wheel, it can also mean that you do not think as much about your driving tasks as you should when you are feeling stressed. This can mean that you do not follow the speed limit, do not pay attention to the signs, or ignore other drivers on the road. If you are feeling particularly stressed and distracted, avoid driving. Wait until you are calmer and have more focus to get behind the wheel, or ask that someone else handle the driving tasks for you that day. This can be a strong indication that you need more help in your care tasks, and that you may need help overcoming your stress.
